During a meeting on Friday, August 22 2008, the Community Service - What's It Worth? campaign team directed our Union to contact the three major parties (The Australian Labor Party, The Greens and the Liberal Party) to ask them to show support for our campaign during the election period.
We asked them to understand that the industry is in crisis with your salaries being too low to sustain a decent standard of living.
The responses we received were:
1. Two press releases from the Greens supporting our campaign (see attached press releases)
2. The ALP confirmed that they would comply with their resolutions from the state conference.
3. We received NO response from the Liberal Party.
Please consider this information to make an informed decision when placing your vote this Saturday, September 6th 2008.
We will continue to campaign, regardless of the outcome of this State Election, for improvements to your salaries and conditions.
Please do not hesitate to forward this article and the attachments to colleagues and encourage them to join our Union in support of the Community Service - What's It Worth? Campaign to make our voice stronger.
